As a retired Industrial Arts Teacher of 35 years and a part time University Lecturer for 10 years, I feel I have a lot to give back to the community. I look forward to working with the other executive members to make this Community Garden all it can and should be.
We have been in the region now for 36+yrs. and in that time have turned "Higgins Homestead" into a thriving organic permaculture garden, all on a suburban 718Msq block.. Chickens, fruit trees, vegie gardens & pool into a pond.
Preserving all fruit and veg grown, experimenting with Hydroponics and Aquaculture; there is not much we haven't tried. Whether it is making your own bread or wine, cheese, kombucha, kimchi, pickles, jams or chutneys; or build a thriving compost bin; we feel the need to teach others to be able to grow their own. South Coffs Community Garden is the ideal place to do this and we look forward to helping in its progress.
